Professional cleanings are a good way for dentists to evaluate your oral health. During a routine cleaning, dental scaling removes tartar, plaque, and bacteria from teeth.
Once your cleaning is completed, you may receive a fluoride treatment to protect your teeth and prevent cavities. This is usually applied on a dental tray in a gel or foam or maybe painted onto your teeth with a brush.
