Infant Teething Symptoms: Recognizing Signs and Soothing PainAbout Teething

During the teething stage, children are more irritable, as it can be a very painful process. They may drool, cry a lot, have an elevated temperature with or without a runny nose, and / or tug on their ear(s) when teething. Their gums will become swollen as their first teeth push through to make an appearance.

All of this is completely normal but can be stressful when a baby has a fever or tooth pain causing frequent discomfort. To help alleviate their pain, you can massage their gums with your fingertips in a circular motion for two minutes. You might also try a cool rubber or silicone teething ring to help ease discomfort.
