About Nutrition and Oral Health

A diet with poor nutrition can lead to problems in the mouth. The effects of oral health depend on many different factors, but it is important to consider the impact of poor nutrition. One shouldn’t rely exclusively upon brushing alone for protection against dental decay.

Proper eating habits are necessary as well to keep your teeth in great condition. Your dentist can recommend diet changes, such as limiting sugar intake to assist in maintaining your oral health. This is especially crucial if you have had treatments such as fillings, veneers, or other procedures using tooth-colored resin, as food and drinks such as coffee or red wine can stain this resin, as well as your natural tooth enamel.
