Understanding Cracked Teeth: Causes, Symptoms, and TreatmentAbout Cracked Teeth

Cracked teeth can be caused by many things, such as aging or pressure on your gums from chewing. They also happen when you have an accident that causes trauma to the tooth in question, which may result in cracks across different areas of its surface like vertical roots or craze lines.

Cracks can affect teeth in many different ways. You may have a cracked tooth or teeth if you feel pain when biting or chewing food, have sensitive gums that react to hot or cold drinks like tea and coffee, as well as swelling around your mouth at times, with intermittent discomfort coming from these affected areas.

When your dentist diagnoses a cracked tooth, they will ask about any underlying health conditions before performing an X-ray. If necessary, treatments like extraction of tooth decay may be necessary before recommending what treatment is best for you, depending on your case.
