About Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentistry specializes in caring for children from the time they are born and into adolescence, through the teen years. Pediatric dentists, or pedodontists, specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of oral health concerns involving the teeth, gums, and jaw. This may include early childhood caries (ECC), gum disease, or any other dental issue your infant might have, such as swallowing difficulties before adolescence. Pediatric dentists have an additional requirement where they are required by law (most states) to be licensed.
